Planten un Blomen: An Enchanting Garden in the Big City

By Tuesday, May 28, 2013 , ,

Planten un Blomen is a public park in the middle of Hamburg. Although it's surrounded by hotels, offices, train stations and busy roads, the park itself is very peaceful. There are streams, ponds (one of which turns into an ice skating rink in the winter), a tropical green house, a few museums and plenty of grassy places and benches to picnic.

These photos are all from around the Japanese Garden, although there are many other areas that I'l like to post about, too.

Hamburg may be the greenest city I've ever lived in or visited. There are mature trees along most streets and parks, as well as lots of grassy areas by the canals people like to grill and sunbath in.
